An award winning Creative Executive with 20 years of experience in the entertainment space. Most recently the SVP Global Creative Advertising for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, overseeing all creative for broadcast, print, and digital paid media for the domestic marketplace as well as international territories. A collaborative leader who inspires a team to drive engagement and maximize potential. Continually striving for creative solutions that are innovative, strategic and rooted in creative storytelling that builds an emotional connection with the audience.
While at Fox, Markell developed award winning, innovative tv campaigns as well as driving some of the most successful home entertainment releases in recent history for the studio’s top franchised films such as Avatar, Star Wars, X-Men, James Bond and Ice Age, as well as critically acclaimed award winning films such as Birdman and 12 years a Slave. Along with these, Markell also has helped defined the creative vision for TV franchises such as Homeland, The Simpsons, Sons of Anarchy, Vikings, and American Horror Story and has reinvigorated Blu-ray with award winning packaging for campaigns such as Alien, Fight Club and the evergreen, The Sound of Music.
Before joining Fox, Markell began her career in Advertising in Los Angeles at BBDO and J Walter Thompson, as Creative Director/Group Head where she led the creative on Paramount Studios, LACMA, Bally Health, Pavillions, Del Taco, and Conroy’s Flowers.
As a creative consultant, Julie is currently working with independent production companies launching original films into the marketplace creating trailers, tv campaigns and one sheets.
Markell attended Art Center College of Design, as well as UCLA focusing on advertising design and film and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.
